Shandur polo festival is one of the wildest and oldest polo festivals on earth. This historical event has been taking place at the Shandur polo ground since 1936. Shandur polo ground is at Shandur Pass on the border between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan. The polo tournament brings the tribe of Gilgit and Chitral together each year for a three-day festival in the first week of July. Spectators from around the world annually gather at Shandur polo ground to witness these rival teams battle for supremacy at the Shandur Polo Festival.
